Mount Lushan consists of 99 individual peaks, the tallest rising to nearly 1500m (4836 feet) above sea level. The park consists of 500 square kilometers of waterfalls, natural grottoes, ravines and forests. It is known as one of the finest summer resorts in China and was used as the location for the film ''Romance on Lushan Mountain''. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996, and is recognized as one of the most naturally beautiful places in China.
Sites on the mountain include the Bailudong Academy, which is one of the oldest academic institutions in China having been founded in 940. It is considered to be one of the four most prestigious institutions in China at which many important academics have studied including Li Bai, Bai Juyi, Su Shi, Kang Youwei and Guo Moruo.
Several religions have found a sacred space on the mountain, with Buddhist and Taoist temples, a Christian Churches and an Islamic Mosque all sharing space between the beautiful forests and waterfalls.
Getting there: Lu Shan is two hours by bus from can Jiujiang or 3.5 hours from Nanchang, as well as being serviced by a large fleet of taxis.
