My 14-year old son and I attempted to have breakfast at the McDonalds directly opposite Ocean University on Xianggang Lu this morning (july 5th, 9:AM). My son is Chinese-American, born in Qingdao. I have lived here for 13 years, so there should be no problem with language or McDonald's breakfasts. We ordered two Big Breakfasts, two extra hash browns, one coffee and one orange juice. My son paid the 31.50 asked by the shift manager who served us. As he went to find a table I waited for the food. After a bit of a wait, ONE Big Breakfast, TWO hash browns, one coffee and one orange juice were served. I pointed out that I'd ordered TWO BB's and extra hash browns. The young woman looked embarrassed, Rang up the second BB and asked for 21.50 more which I handed over. Another wait and the second BB was delivered but with NO hash browns! Excuse me, I said, asking where the potato patties, the one standard with the order and the extra I'd orderred, were. Then the kerfuffle began, as the young woman, and a male shift manager attempted to convince me that I'd only ordered two Big Breakfasts and only paid 43.RMB. My son came to the counter and the two of us recounted in English and Chinese the progression of events and the fact that we'd paid over 50RMB for our food, which was now cold. Nothing would convince the staff, who had somehow failed to produce a cash register slip for the transaction, that we were not trying to steal two extra hash brown potato patties. Finally, in disgust, the food thoroughly chilled. we put the food on the counter an left. I promise NEVER to return. This is the 3rd such unhappy McDonald's experience in recent days, stale, soggy food delivered at the installation below Lotte Mart, and stale buns and poor preparation of hamburgers at the newly redecorated Jusco shop were the others. WE are not lovin' it!
